I am passionate about Rotary and have been a proud Rotarian for the past 27 years. Rotary is an international service based organisation (www.rotary.org). In 2011/2012, I served as the first African Kenyan District Governor (DG) for Rotary District 9200. The District was set up in 1927 and encompasses Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. In my year as DG I visited over 140 Rotary clubs within the many countries of the District. I have also attended numerous international conferences in various countries worldwide and I am a major donor and a Benefactor to The Rotary Foundation.(www.rotary.org)

I currently serve as Rotary Regional Foundation Chair for English-speaking Africa.

Palmhouse Foundation (PF) is an education trust whose mission is to finance the secondary education of needy and deserving students and mentor them through life. PF begun informally through the unstructured educational support that Margaret and I offered to needy children in the Githunguri area. Those supported were the children of peasant farmers supplying milk to Palmhouse Dairies. The Palmhouse Foundation became structured in 2002 when it was formerly registered under the Trust Act and the NGO Coordination act. Palmhouse foundation was the first indigenous Kenyan education trust of its kind. The organisation is now in its 15th year of operation and continues to break records in the number of beneficiaries supported.

I am the past chairman of the board of trustees for HelpAge International, London. In addition, I have also served as a board member till the end 2013. HelpAge International is the world’s leading organisation that caters to the needs of the elderly by helping them claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty (www.helpage.org). Aging is the triumph of our times and I truly believe in the HelpAge slogan that ‘age helps.’

I am currently a Global Ambassador for Help Age International.

I am currently a Board Member of The Brooke East Africa whose core business is equines – mainly donkeys and horses.
